Improvement in the hatchery and nursery production of green mussel (Perna viridis)

This project aims to optimize the mussel hatchery and nursery protocol to provide technology in securing a reliable supply of hatchery produced seed to augment the supply of mussel spats for grow-out expansion. The hatchery protocols developed by the DOST-PCAARRD-GIA funded mussel project (July 2014 – September 2017) will be used as basis for seed production. Sexually mature/gravid mussel broodstock from the wild will be brought to the hatchery for spawning. Mass production experiments on the mussel seeds until juvenile stage ≥2.0 cm will be carried out.
